Huge portal site for Austria schools and teenagers. The site has everything
on it: free web-mail, calendar, bookmark and links collections, several
personalized desktop configurations, chat, instant messaging, archive,
configurable reminders for events, SMS updates on uncoming lessons, club
and group features, image archive, postings and articles. Unique content
is instant school related information on lesson schedule replacement
and changes, features for school administrators, teachers and pupils.
The site has its own content management system and public/private content
sections. Featured very complicated and fancy administrative area with
flexible permission settings. Online statistic, page and clicks statistics
and advertising information is available from the administration area
and partially from the main site.

and free postings in several categories and subcategories. Search feature
is provided to find the special postings, as well as listing feature

configuration.

Localized version of the "WEST" web-site, a popular European brand of cigarettes.
Russian and Ukrainian localizations of the site www.westonline.com have
already been completed. The game section, the chat and the forum were enhanced
during the web-site creation. The section "World of WEST ", which illustrates
new StreamTec filter, was created. The forum is the most popular section
of the site. KSF maintains constant support of this site.
The site is being permanently updated by new games and online promotion
of actions which are being endorsed by the brand "WEST".

Decision making support system. The users of this system are sales managers,
whose main interests lay in the field of remedies distribution. This
public Web service provides power analysis and report building facilities
to its users. For example, each user of the MapTrac application may get
a precise answer on the question "Where (in what geographical region
or even in which pharmacy) a specified remedy or remedy group can be
sold with the highest revenue". And that is just one case of thousands
possible query combinations. Query results are combined in well-designed
informative reports that include tables, bar diagrams and colored maps.
This is a typical client/server application with very light HTML client
generated by application server core implemented with ASP. Data storage
and query processing functionality is implemented on MS SQL Server database.
Dynamic mapping functionality (zooming, map moving, layers visibility control,
map object selection) is provided by specially designed Java applets.

MapInfo
Corporation developed a mapping OCX called MapX. It provided the customers
with sample applications to demonstrate how to use MapX basic
technologies as well as advanced features. KSF developed four
demonstration programs which incorporate MapX and show how
to use it in business analysis and decision making systems.
The applications are:
Sales manager's tool - displays map of regions which are shaded by sales
representative, sales revenue and population. Allows re-assigning representatives
to regions and get detailed information for each region.
Hub site selection tool - displays map of regions
with customers and set of hub sites. Allows moving/adding/deleting
hubs and calculate necessary hubs' capacity.
NorthWind database enhancement - standard MS Access
sample database, NorthWind, enhanced with mapping analysis.

Claritas
Inc. has a marketing software product, Compass for Windows.
It uses MapInfo MapX as
a mapping engine for one of its core components.
KSF has developed dataset driver to access
Compass's demographic and marketing information
from MapX, in order to thematically shade the
map based on the wide range of variables which
Compass provides, or to add layer of landmarks
to the map.
Claritas Inc. has also ActiveX data engine,
ClaritasCDO, which can be used by any developed
environment which enables applications to act
as ActiveX container, to access datasets containing
any tabular information, such as market values.
KSF has developed MapX dataset driver to access two kinds of objects
which ClaritasCDO ActiveX exposes, so map thematic shading and/or adding
of new landmark layers can be performed seamlessly in application which
uses both MapX and ClaritasCDO.
